- Just when she thought it couldn’t get any better, he proposed (wait till you hear how the puppy helped with popping the question!)
- Amidst the excitement of being newly engaged, both sets of parents arrived, with picnic goodies ready to share in the celebrations.
A Twist on Tradition: The Dusky Blue Styling
As the plan was for her our client to surprise his partner with a puppy, for this setup, we pivoted away from our signature romantic tones. Instead, we curated a dusky blue palette that felt elegant and luxurious, and reflected the arrival of a male puppy keeping what was about to happen under wraps.
To ensure exclusive use of the elevated lawn overlooking the Brisbane River, we assisted the client with formally booking the area. The goal was to create a setting that felt like a sophisticated date, keeping the surprises cleverly under wraps until the right moment to reveal each surprise.
The Proposal Setting:
Dusky Blue Hydrangea Florals: Clouds of heavenly florals adorning modern white stands to add height and texture.
Low Picnic Style Seating: Dusky blue rug and fluffy cushions to keep the mood relaxed.
Refined Accents: White lanterns, an ice filled drinks tub and a single white rose for that intentional, understated romance.

The Location: Romance Overlooking the Brisbane Skyline
The picnic was set up on a beautiful riverside lawn with uninterrupted views of the river and the city skyline.
With the breathtaking backdrop, this spot offers the perfect balance of intimacy and “wow” factor. It was the perfect backdrop for what was about to happen.
The “Will You Marry Me?” Puppy Proposal🐾
Under the guise of heading out for a picnic, they took a stroll alongside the river until they reached the special spot.
Holding hands, he led her to the picnic setting, then asked her to wait there, while he went to get something. He took a short walk off to one side of the lawn, while she waited in anticipation.
To her complete surprise he returned holding the cutest puppy, she squealed with excitement, as he handed her the puppy, his little tail wagged at a million miles an hour. Having always wanted a Cavoodle, she was over the moon!
Thinking the puppy was the only surprise, which explained the blue themed picnic setting, he hinted for her to read the tag on his collar.
The custom tag on the puppy’s collar read, “Will you marry me?”
As she read the words, he dropped to one knee. The reaction was instantaneous. There were happy tears, breathless laughter, and a very enthusiastic “YES!”
Incorporating a puppy wasn’t just a “cute” addition—it was a deeply personal gesture that reflected the couple’s journey and their future together.
Surprise Guests
As they both took in the moment, there was one more surprise to follow. All their parents who had secretly been hiding around the corner arrived, which was a big surprise given none of them live locally. They celebrated the engagement over picnic nibbles and drinks. Adding even more emotion and happy tears to the proposal.
